Bring Your Own Device Policy

DEFINITION: Mobile electronic devices include, but are not limited to items such as laptops, netbooks, tablets, cell phones, iPod touches, and PDA’s.

GUIDELINES:

  • Students may have mobile electronic devices on their person. These devices should be set to silent or quiet mode during the school day.
  • Use of mobile electronic devices during the school hours is regulated by specific times and locations.
  • Building administration has approved the use of mobile electronic devices during instructional time.
  • Students may not use mobile electronic devices in the classroom unless it is teacher approved and/or a planned portion of the learning activity.
  • Any use of mobile electronic devices is strictly prohibited in locker rooms, bathrooms, whether here or at another facility where a school activity or athletic event is occurring.
  • Students who are in attendance, dressed, or participating in physical education classes are not permitted to have a mobile electronic device in their possession without teacher approval.
  • Mobile electronic devices are popular theft items. The District is not responsible for the loss, theft, damage, or vandalism to student mobile electronic devices. Students and parents are strongly encouraged to ensure that if students have mobile electronic devices in their possession, they should not leave them unattended or unsecured.
  • The student may not use the devices to record, transmit or post photos or video of themselves, other students or persons on campus without the express permission of a teacher.
  • The student MUST use the District’s content filtered wireless network.

·         Misuse of mobile electronic devices will result in disciplinary action as determined by building administration.

As a student, I understand and will abide by the above policy and guidelines. I further understand any violation of the above may result in the loss of my network and/or device privileges as well as other disciplinary action.

As a parent, I understand that my child will be responsible for abiding by the above policy and guidelines. I have read and discussed them with her/him and they understand the responsibility they have in the use of their personal device.
